Dove Campaign for Real Beauty

We see the advertisements every day, they are passed along to us as if the woman were a natural beauty. And beautiful she probably is, but Dove set out to show you what exactly goes into making that woman ready for print such as a billboard. You see the woman sit down, and the frame is set so that it’s just her face aligned in the center, focusing just on her head you’ll see what all goes into the production. First there’s the makeup, then the hair, then the photos. And even after all that time spent fixing her up, there’s still plenty of photoshopping to do. The text starts off telling you that this is a Dove film, and then concludes with “No wonder our perception of beauty is distorted.” The visual shows all the work that goes into the final product both from the make-up/hair artists, and then from the computer. The video is sped up so that you can imagine how long it would take for all that to happen at real speed. The color in the video is fairly muted, and when the video first starts it shows the stage, you can also hear the director in the background, you can hear many voices helping to aid in the illusion of perfect.
